There are several myths surrounding floor heating systems. A lot of people assume that floor heating isn't good, but that is not true.
Myth 1: Installation is difficult
Fact: Placing heating mats below the floor is quite easy. You can install them in both new rooms and on an old floor.
Myth 2: You can only use floor heating in bathrooms
Fact: You can use electric floor heating in all kinds of rooms and in all kinds of buildings. You can, for example, use floor heating in old and new homes, apartment blocks, public buildings and renovated buildings.
Myth 3: You can only install floor heating under terracotta
Fact: You can install floor heating under different kinds of flooring including natural stone, ceramic tiles, parquet, wood flooring, carpet flooring, laminated flooring etc. As the electric floor heating system doesn't occupy any space, you will be able to enjoy your room as you please.
Myth 4: If there is a problem, you will have to rip up the entire floor
Fact: You don't have to rip up the entire floor to fix a fault. It is possible to pinpoint the exact area where the fault exists. So, only one tile has to be removed to fix the problem. The heating cables are quite durable. Except for the thermostat relay, the floor heating system does not have any removable parts like valves, pumps, or compressors. This makes it maintenance-free.
Myth 5: It is not easy to regulate floor heating
Fact: Actually, it is quite easy to use the floor heating system. There are two ways to control it. You can, for example, use separate thermostats in each room. Or you can control it via a single device consisting of a main panel which controls the thermostats and sensors throughout your house. The easy-to-use control panel also helps save energy by allowing you to set the optimum temperature.
Myth 6: Floor heating is quite expensive
Fact: Water based floor heating systems are more expensive than electric heating systems. Traditional radiator systems are also more expensive than electric floor heating systems. When you use an electric flooring system, it is possible to reduce the average room temperature by even 1 or 2 degrees. This allows you to reduce energy losses by up to 20%.
Myth 7: You need floor heating only during winter
Fact: You can use floor heating throughout the year, even in summer. It is particularly helpful on cold days.
Myth 8: The heat does not rise enough
Fact: The temperature distribution is nearly perfect. It is true that the area near the floor is slightly warmer than the area near the ceiling. This makes your feet pleasantly warm, but your head does not get too hot.
Myth 9: Floor heating is harmful to your health
Fact: Floor heating has absolutely no impact on your health. The cables placed underneath the floor ensure that the room remains comfortably warm. This will allow you to walk barefoot on the floor.
