Things You need to know about the Epoxy Flooring

red hr line

The use of epoxy flooring is popular in households especially for the bathroom and the garage. These are the two places that are prone to damage from water and oil usage and these places are least cared by the home owners. In such a scenario, it is important to have a floor paint that can take the strain and still survive the daily wear and tear. That is where epoxy comes in, which essentially seals the floor and does not allow oil and water to go inside. While it is a favoured option for the home owners, it is important to know certain things before you use it.

The advantages of using Epoxy Flooring

The first and foremost benefit is that it is long lasting. It will stay for a long period of time and will protect your floor from any kind of damage. You don’t need to take thorough care of it from every now and then. You can just forget and let it do its work. It does not hold any dirt or any grim and thus it is easy to clean the floor. Even alcohol beverage, sodas and juice will not have stain on it. Any kind of abrasive material will not have any impact on the floor. When you lay epoxy on a floor the cracks and repairs will be covered quite gently. It will not be possible to say where the cracks were present.

Preparation is Needed

When you have decided to color your garage floor, you shall be taking care of the preparation part. There shall be proper preparation done before installing epoxy. Clear the floor properly and remove anything and everything. Keep it clear for at least three days before the painting. Check if there is any area that is hard to reach and keep brushes handy apart from the roller that will be an obvious requirement. Once the floor is cleaned, make sure you have a knee cap as your knees may be hurt while painting. Preparation in every sense is required before the painting. The surface has to be etched, clean and dry at the same time. In case there is any oil stain, you shall clear it up because the epoxy flooring will not work on it. In case the concrete flooring is done fresh, you shall allow at least 30 days before you can paint it.

Plan your painting

Just as you make travel plan, you have to plan for the road of painting. Just don’t start from anywhere in the room, decide a route and then paint accordingly. You can start from a corner and then move to another corner or the room or do it horizontally or vertically. No matter what, planning is quite essential.  If you don’t plan appropriately, you may miss some part of the painting.

Weather issues

Weather can be a friend or an enemy for the process of painting. Wind is good as it will make the surface dry early but too much wind can be problem. If you are laying tiles the wind can blow them off and create a mess. It is better to do the work on a bright sunny day without much of a wind.

Epoxy is a great option considering the points to keep in mind. There are several other benefits that can be ripped from such a flooring calgary option. However, this is best suited for bathroom and garage. You can choose other flooring options for other parts of the home. The end result is always rewarding and it is good to work for the end result.
